Medical Insurance

Medical insurance is included in the Surrey Schools International Student Program fee.
All new students are initially insured by studyinsured (private insurance). Students who have a study permit and are staying for the full academic year will later be transferred to the provincial BC Medical Services Plan.

How to use StudyInsured Student Insurance

StudyInsured offers students and host families multilingual 24 hour support through their StudyInsured™ Assistance. Students and host families are encouraged to call prior to any visit to a clinic or hospital.

Please note that for serious illness or injuries, someone must call StudyInsured Assistance within 48 hours. Failure to do so may result in eligible claim payments to a max of 80%.

In addition to regular health insurance coverage, StudyInsured provides Virtual Health. This online service connects students with doctors via video chat 7 days a week. To access this service students must use their policy number and date of birth to access the registration from here:

Do you need to talk to someone? Speak with a caring counsellor, in your language, about anything you need. Your call is completely private and won’t be shared with your school, parents, or insurance company.
